I had the opportunity this week to have a brief bit of time to meet and speak with the Minister of Municipal Affairs Anne Kang and talk about issues in our community around such topics as the low voter turnout in the past election.
I had written to the government regarding some ideas and concerns and was able to pass more on during the conversation. We also were able to touch on a few other topics in our brief time. I found her to be very receptive and attentive. I will do a follow up with her on this as well. I appreciated the opportunity offered by our MLA to have the brief face to face with the Minister.
I was also able to speak with Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Monashee on the recent concerns of our residents and my neighbour with ambulance wait times, hospital over crowding etc. She has been following up on the concerns raised and I will continue to keep people informed. I was impressed that her words are always to continue to bring issues up and not to shy away from problems.
If you find there’s anything in our community you need help advocating for feel free to reach out and let me know and I’ll do my best to help regardless of the level of government. Your voice matters.
